About Lucy
Lucy G. Schneider is a clothing designer and tailor who works by commission. She designs each piece and draws her patterns to compliment and conform to the individual body. She constructs each piece for perfect fit and structural integrity.
Lucy has been sewing passionately since childhood. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University in 2000, she honed her machine skills sewing high-performance racing sails. She then apprenticed for a year under Ghanaian tailor Margery Nyako in Oakland, CA. There she learned to free-cut, a skill she now uses in pattern making. Lucy has studied couture with Susan Khalje and Kenneth King, and attended menswear courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She also studied men’s tailoring privately with Maestro Benedetto Alibrandi. For the past decade, she has created custom-designed and fitted clothing for clients and friends, including burn survivors.
Lucy combines her design vision, her unique structural conception of fabric and seams, and her practiced dexterity to create beautiful clothes for the individual.
